FAQ

Which crust is the best?
This a hard one to answer because it is completely subjective, we put a lot of work into all of our crusts so it really comes down to what YOU prefer - think about the kind of pizza you crave - is it on you can fold with the perfect ratio of crust/sauce/cheese? Go New York! Is it fluffy and bready in the best possibly way, maybe a grandma pie or a Sicilian? Go Detroit! Is it crispy and light with the focus being on that cheesy goodness and toppings? Go Chicago Tavern!

Which pizza is the most popular?
The G.O.A.T. is definitely named that way for a reason. For the 8 years that Nate has been making pizza there has been some version of this one on the menu.
-
What do you recommend?
Our favorites change almost daily, but if we had one recommendation it’s this: three toppings max on any pizza. Do with that what you will.
-
So all you have is pizza?
Yes! At the moment all we have is pizza, and while we do have plans to add some menu items in the coming months, we will always be primarily a pizza place.
-
Do you have any vegan options?
We do not carry any vegan cheeses (we have not been able to find one that works within our systems/specifications) but you can forgo cheese for Truffle Oil on any pizza. We do recommend the New York crust, and a red sauce base if you go this route - Just put “vegan” as a special request

I have an allergy....
Our kitchen is nut, sesame, and shellfish free.
-
Gluten Free?
We do not currently have a gluten free option - but it’s on our growth plans. Keep asking and keep an eye on our socials, we know there is a desire for it and we are working on it.

What's the deal with the name?
When we opened Jackleg 1.0 in Culpeper, VA we definitely felt like underdogs with something to prove, so we decided on the name Jackleg (which means incompetent/slap-shod/patched together) as a tongue in cheek thing with a jackelope as our original logo (that’s a story for another day) We thought about changing the name, but at this point, people know us by it and we’ve come to love it, and our little wizard.
-
Can you tell me a little bit about your business!
Jackleg is owned and operated by Nathan & Gina Rivas, it is the 3rd itteration of Jackleg (first a sandwich shop in 2020, then a pizza food truck, and now the pizza shop here in Vint Hill). We run our business with a heavy focus on making sure our employees are supported, growing in a way that is sustainable and doesn’t impact quality, and sourcing our ingredients in a way that keeps them as local and sustainable as possible while providing the best value to our customers.
